Four years in, and growing
Obinrin Farms is now a parent enterprise with three divisions: agriculture and research, poultry, and storytelling. One name, one belief behind all of it: farming isn’t dirty.
We started four years ago by giving seeds away. Today we sell seeds and seedlings, publish plant research, and are close to opening our own poultry farm in Lagos. Somewhere along the way, it became clear that Obinrin Farms had outgrown a single label.
So here is the new shape of the house, and what each part is for.
1. Obinrin Farms Agriculture
Agriculture & Research. This is where it all began, and it remains the core of the business.
Under this division you’ll find:
- Seeds and growing supplies for home growers and farmers
- Crop production and agricultural initiatives
- Plant research and development
- Plant Hardiness program, which study how crops perform in Nigerian conditions and seek out plants worth growing here
- Research reports and collaborations with partners who want data, not guesswork
Our first state-level plant hardiness report, on Kaduna State, is already complete. More states are coming, and we’re open to custom research for growers and businesses with a specific question to answer.
2. Poultry: Coming Soon
Poultry. Our poultry brand is on its way, launching alongside our layer farm in Lagos.
We’re starting with eggs, with room to grow into broader poultry production, meat, and related products.
We’re also planning to grow the crops that go into our own poultry feed, so what we learn in the field feeds the farm, literally. Stay tuned: we’ll share more soon.
3. Obinrin Stories
Stories, Culture & Education. Obinrin Stories is our media and storytelling division, because a farm is also a community.
Here we’ll share:
- Stories about women and their experiences, including Nigerian women doing great work in agriculture who are hard to find online
- Love, relationships, and human experiences through agriculture
- Nigerian culture, traditions, and heritage through agriculture
- Educational cultural news and social commentary, like our “What’s in your state?” series on the resources of each Nigerian state
Have a story you want told? Send it to us. We’d love to publish it here.
Why “Farming Isn’t Dirty”
For too long, farming has been treated as the job you do when there’s nothing better. We see it differently: it’s science, business, culture, and care, all in one.
That’s why Obinrin Farms covers research, production, and storytelling under one roof. Each part makes the others stronger.
Come grow with us.
