About Our Seed Sourcing

At Obinrin Farms, we believe that knowing what you plant is just as important as knowing how to grow it. As more people become interested in home gardening, food security, and intentional growing, we understand the importance of transparency when it comes to seed sourcing.

That’s why we want to openly share where many of our seeds come from and how we select them.

Where We Source Our Seeds

Obinrin Farms carefully sources from a mix of trusted international seed brands, home-garden companies, specialty seed suppliers, and grow-kit brands. Our goal is to provide a wide variety of seeds suitable for home growers, urban gardeners, backyard planting, and small-scale farming.

Some of the brands we source from include:

  • Burpee
  • Botanical Interests
  • Ferry-Morse
  • Park Seed
  • Sow Right Seeds
  • Seed Needs
  • Survival Garden Seeds
  • Seedphony
  • Tactiko Survival
  • Organo Republic
  • Back to the Roots
  • Outsidepride
  • American Seed Co.
  • TKE Farms & Gardens
  • Kitazawa Seed Company
  • Total Green Holland
  • Buzzy Seeds

…alongside other garden and seed suppliers.

We select products based on quality, seed variety, availability, customer demand, and suitability for small-space and home growing.

Do We Sell GMO Seeds?

One of the most common questions we receive is whether our seeds are GMO.

At Obinrin Farms, we do not GMO seeds. Many of the brands we purchase from clearly identify certain seed lines as non-GMO, heirloom, open-pollinated, untreated, organic, or pollinator-friendly depending on the variety.

It’s also important to understand that GMO seeds are generally regulated and commonly associated with large-scale commercial agriculture, not typical home gardening seed packs.

For varieties where suppliers explicitly state “non-GMO,” we reflect that information accordingly. Where suppliers describe seeds as heirloom, open-pollinated, organic, or hybrid, we also communicate those distinctions clearly so customers can make informed decisions.

Understanding Seed Labels

Not all seeds are classified the same way, and different varieties may carry different labels. Some common seed categories include:

  • Heirloom Seeds — traditional varieties passed down through generations
  • Open-Pollinated Seeds — seeds that naturally reproduce true to type
  • Hybrid Seeds — created through controlled cross-pollination (still not necessarily GMO)
  • Organic Seeds — produced according to organic growing standards

Because classifications can vary by product line, we always encourage customers to read individual product descriptions carefully.

Seeds for Home & Small-Scale Growing

Obinrin Farms primarily serves:

  • Home gardeners
  • Balcony and urban growers
  • Backyard gardeners
  • Beginner growers
  • Small-scale farmers

Our seed packs are curated for small to medium planting spaces and are not designed as bulk commercial farm supply for large hectares of land.

Our Promise

At Obinrin Farms, transparency matters.

We do not relabel seeds with misleading claims. Where a supplier states that a variety is non-GMO, heirloom, open-pollinated, untreated, or organic, we reflect that information as provided by the source brand.

Where such classifications are not explicitly stated by the supplier, we avoid making assumptions and instead focus on what we can confidently guarantee: quality sourcing, proper storage, freshness, and careful handling.

We also encourage customers to independently research seed varieties and source brands if they would like to learn more about seed classifications and growing practices.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: to help more people grow confidently, intentionally, and successfully
